HISTORY OF GYMPIE SOCCER
Gympie and Districts Soccer Association
player registrations were first officially recorded
in Gympie 33 years ago in 1973. In that year 90 players
from Under 10 to Senior Men ran on for Gympie teams
the Rangers, Tin Can Bay and Gympie United.
The following year Under 8 teams were
introduced and the juniors were called Panthers, Tigers,
Leopards and Lions. It wasn't until 1982 when Gympie
& Districts Soccer Association was incorporated, that
the clubs Columbia, Lions, Diggers and Golden City were
formed. Cooroora United came into the Gympie competition
in 1990 and Valley Rangers was formed in 2001.
